Mzinda is a web platform through which Citizens can engage with their elected Councilors, reach out with reports to their Members of Parliament, City Councils, ESCOM and Water Board. Citizens can log in to http://www.mzinda.com, download the Mzinda mobile application at http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mhubmw.mzinda or send an SMS to 0 888 242 063 and share about service delivery in their area.
The Mzinda platform has been developed to facilitate convenient citizen engagement by providing a platform through which citizens can send reports on the status of service delivery in their areas and the reports will reach their elected political leaders and service providers without need for physical interaction. The leaders and service providers will in turn be able to respond to the reports and the responses will be routed to the citizens.
The Mzinda platform has been developed under the ICT for Citizen Engagement Project that is being implemented with funding from the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA). The project is being piloted in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu cities.
